Making Gemstone Chip Bracelets

Gemstone Bracelets

Always wondered how to make gemstone chip bracelets? Here's how!

Gemstone Bracelet making using turquoise, quartz and rose quartz

  1. Start with your stretchy string wire and your gemstone chips. You need to ensure the gemstone holes are wide enough to fit the string width; normally they're around 0.8-1mm but make sure to look out for this when purchasing.

  2. Cut the wire at approximately 20cm to allow enough to work with at the end.

  3. Start threading the gemstone chips onto the wire in any random order you like!

  4. Keep an eye on how many chips you thread. Too many and the bracelet will be too big, too few and the bracelet will be too tight. Use your own wrist as an indicator.

Once happy with the amount of chips on the bracelet, add a bail and prepare to knot. I find bails are a really nice way of keeping it tidy by hiding the knot.

Start with a normal 1 loop knot to secure in place. Follow up with a double knot to fasten this in place. Repeat the process a few times to ensure a good secure knot and clip the ends of the string.

It is worth knoting that string will stretch over time therefore, to make these last as long as possible, roll on to the wrist rather than stretching over the hand and on to the wrist.
